Tahoma Fuji Sake Kasu

+

A trio of soaps made from sake kasu from our friends over at Tahoma Fuji Sake! Kasu (lees) is a by-product of sake making, kind of like the curds, that has incredibly healing properties. We wanted to celebrate this traditional practice of honoring RICE as a staple food in Japanese culture, where we use every part of the grain in many processes that create some of our most beloved food sources (and this time, also soap!)

The Neyens family in Ballard, Washington (only a few miles from WATO headquarters!) makes sake by hand in their handmade brewery in their backyard. We really connected to their philosophy of sharing cultural knowledge through generations by making small, intentional batches! Kasu is packed with moisturizing properties, fiber, protein and amino acids. There is folklore around sake brewers in that they have no wrinkles on their hands because of these properties. Our bar definitely will keep your hands soft!
